Inside the hollow of one old olive tree, we found a quiet gathering of nutshells — left behind by a small inhabitant, likely a dormouse or field mouse, who calls this place home.

We don’t see this land as ours. We are its stewards - caring for it on behalf of all who live here. Wild or rooted, feathered or furred, we live alongside many lives; and are interwoven, with all of them.

While our vineyard is almost entirely red, there’s one row of white grapes - a diversity of Trebbiano, Malvasia, Vernaccia, likely once used for Vin Santo.
We made a small experiment this year: a white wine, handpicked, carefully selected, gently pressed, handcrafted at every step from harvest to bottle.
Fresh, crisp, mineral - elegant but with character. Notes of citrus peel, wild herbs, a gentle touch of ripe fruit. A white we’ll look forward to making every year.
What should we name it? Will you come taste it here in Tuscany?

As the October sun warms our Tuscan hills, the olive harvest begins - a tradition we treasure here at Podere Sole. Each olive, in shades ranging from bright green to deep black, is carefully gathered by hand to preserve its flavour and character. Within 24 hours, these sun-drenched olives are cold-pressed to create our organic extra virgin olive oil - intensely green, smooth, spicy, and full of life.

For the next few weeks, we’ll be out in the groves together, working in harmony with the land, guided by our commitment to nurture this place and capture its essence in every bottle. We look forward to sharing more of this journey and the taste of Tuscany with you!

We began the harvest season in the Podere Sole vineyard this week by gathering part of our Pinot Nero, picking about half a hectare at 16° Brix for a local winery’s sparkling wine. It was hard work, but as we moved through the rows, we were reminded of the abundance our land offers and the deep gratitude we feel for being able to cultivate it.

Every step of the journey - from nurturing the soil to promoting biodiversity - reflects our commitment to sustainable farming. Bud break begins the annual growth cycle of our vines. A little early this year, some shoots have already developed quite a bit. Each of our five grape varieties - Sangiovese, the traditional Tuscan variety for strong reds, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero & our rarest variety, Foglia Tonda - develops in its unique way. There will be two Podere Sole 2024 vintages - we will share our wine making journey with you!
